Current Topics

READING/WRITING - The students in my class were broken into 3 different reading groups. In these groups they read about eyes, hail, and volcanoes. Now they are writing an exsplantion peice on these topics.
MATH - My math class has just started to learn how to solve agrebraic equations. We also have started three digit divisor division. Previously we had been working heavily with fractions, where the students learned how to add, subtract, and multiply fractions.
SCIENCE - Students are now investing the world of engines and energy. So far they have been able to the discover information on electrical force, magnetism, gravity, and friction.
HISTORY - Each student has been assigned a different country in Africa to research. This is perfect for African American month. Our cluster is researching Nigeria. Look at this website for more on Nigeria:

Spelling Bee

This year on Friday, January 13th, eleven students from Circle Rock Prep School had the chance to participate in the annual ACSI spelling bee at Palos Heights. This was a wonderful experience for all of the students. Two 5th graders finished in the top half of their peers. We are looking forward to attending again next year.

Helpful Website

There is a web site that I have found very helpful as a teacher. You do have to pay $30 a year to get most of the meaningful information and worksheets, but it is worth it! Here is the website:

Office Productivity Tools

Most office tools I can use very adequetly. I use the spreedsheet, graphics, and the word processor often. I also know how to use the presentation software. The one thing I would like to improve on is my ability to use the spreedsheet. I use it in a very basic way, however I would like how to use it in a more complex way. I keep track of banking for my students on a spreedsheet. I would like to learn how the spreedsheet could do the banking for me.

Internet Use

I know how to research and browse for things on the internet, however I do not know much about software and publishing skills. However, the computer class once a month with my co-workers, has been helping me understand publishing skills.

Reflections on Basic Computer Skills

I believe that my basic skill level is average. I am able to figure out and function daily on the all of the activities that I need the computer for. One of my goals would be to challenge myself more in the way that I use computers.

Reflections on Basic Computer Operations

I want to become better at deleting items that are no longer in use. This will clear the space on my computer. I would also like to be able to troubleshoot more problems on my own. I have been improving and my goal is to continue.

Introduction

Hello! This is Sarah B. (Weaver) Florea. This year I am the 5th grade teacher at Circle-Rock Preparatory School. The past two years I served and worked here at the 4th grade teacher. This past August 13th I was married to Teodor Florea, so I am now known as Mrs. Florea instead of Miss Weaver. We enjoyed our wonderful honeymoon in Hawaii.
